Lady Antebellum Concert/Valentine's Day

HOLY late blog post. My bad! But here's how my Valentine's day was :)

Remember how I won those Lady Antebellum tickets? Well the concert was on valentine's day so Greg and I didn't have to brainstorm about what to do! We went to dinner at The Dojo restaurant, yummy sushi that was a little more unique than your usual sushi rolls.

This was the second time we have seen Lady A in concert (the first the the Rail Venue) and they never disappoint! Darius Rucker and Thompson Square were there too! We had the best time ever, such an amazing Valentine's day!!

Quick Thoughts About Life

Life is full of struggles and trials. So why would you ever pass up the moments, things or the people that will make your days easier and happier? Carpe Diem. It's time to seize the day and grab hold of the things that bring us light.

Do what you believe because there will always be someone to judge you, you can't please anyone, so please yourself. This isn't selfish because it's your life that you have been gifted with and you should be able to take care of it. If you know something makes you happy, keep doing it. If you know something brings you down, get rid of it.

I've always believed that your lover and your friends should be the ones who make your life easier. Who make your cares go away and who bring happiness to your life. I believe you should be happy with yourself because you shouldn't expect any one else to make you happy. If somebody in your life brings you down, they shouldn't be allowed to experience your life. Things in this world have one of two purposes, to make our life easier or to make it harder. Pick the people and the things that will make it easier, life is hard enough already...pick the things that bring happiness.

Here's a post by the lovely Kat, "30 lessons life has taught me", her thoughts are so simple and beautiful. Take the time to read it, I promise you'll gain something from it :)

Who do you wanna be?

Something came to me last week during a conversation about goals and what needed to be accomplished. When we were little we were always asked "what do you want to be when you grow up?" Throughout life we are constantly forced to think about what we want. What job we want to have, what pair of shoes we want to wear, what school we want to spend 4 years at. But does anyone ever question who do you want to be?

I laughed at myself when this came out of my mouth because it was the most simple thought. Why don't we focus on who we want to be instead of what we want? Granted some of us do, but there's many of us who can admit that our desires are to be a CEO, drive a BMW, live in Hollywood, marry the man of your dreams or find the cure to cancer. All these things are great desires, but how do we reach these goals?  Again, you probably are thinking along the lines of going to school to get my MBA, save my money, or leave Utah. Yes, these are ways to get where you want to be, but dig deeper. Who do you want to be on your way there?

My point is that  if we focus on the person we want to be we will most likely end up with the material concepts we desire. We can set goals to have a BMW one day or become a millionaire. But then, you're just a person who drives a BMW with a million dollars in there account.

Now what if you focused on being driven, kind, independent, caring, outgoing and smart. You will be a driven person who is smart and chances are you will be able to reach your desires because of who you are. It easy to dream about the big picture, but it's even easier to accomplish the smaller things. Work on being confident and caring because without good characteristics you may never reach your desires.

When I read about the nice things said about other people, I wonder "what would someone say about me?". Do you want to be remembered as the girl with 20 pairs of Louis Vuitton heels or the girl who was always kind and selfless? I'm sure we all know that guy in your neighborhood with a huge house who is a total jerk or that woman with the perfect husband who makes you question how he even wanted to marry her. During these hard times we have realized more than ever how quickly we can lose something. A house, a job, a loved one...So now I think more than ever it is important to focus on something that we are less likely to lose. Who we are.

In this moment

In this moment...I am happy. I haven't posted anything for a good while because...well...I'm not sure why :) All I know is that I feel like things have been falling into place lately. Nothing too big, just little simple details of life. For the past two days I have been sick...but today, I feel great. And although just last week I was beyond stressed/overwhelmed, it seems like that is just a faded moment. Maybe it's the fact that I've been going back to the gym, maybe it's because my room is clean, maybe because I've reconnected with old friends and made new ones, or maybe it's because I'm finally taking the steps towards making my life better. Whatever it is, it has led me to feel really good today! And so I wanted to share :)

I love seeing the positivity that others have been sharing through Twitter, Instagram, Blogs and Facebook lately. I definitely have noticed that more people have become more grateful for the little (and the big) things life has to offer, and it's contagious. Even if the challenges in my life sometimes bring me to my knees and push me to tears, I realize that I am subtly blessed with a lot of help to guide me through the rough times. Like the people that are a part of my life every day, who give so much to me without realizing it. The opportunities that always seem to present themselves. The gifts that are unexpectedly given. Those moments when an answer or guidance appears at the most needed time. All these things make my heart happy, and I hope that I can hold on to this feeling and always know it. And I hope for you, that you too can feel happiness and peace in this world of craziness. xo

Xmas and New Years

Hey ya'll! Hope your holidays were amazing!! Mine sure were :) The best part was probably that Christmas and New Years fell on a weekend which made it a long weekend, the hard part though has been waking up to go to work now.
Christmas Day
Christmas was fun :) My parents and I had our traditional Christmas eve dinner and on Christmas day I spent most of the time with Greg's family which is so fun because there's never a dull moment. Greg always gets me the best gifts, he even got a little humorous and bought me a Forever lazy...super attractive lol.

An adult onesie...
The night after Christmas my parents and I did our other tradition of going to see the lights at Temple Square, popular place huh?
City Creek Fountains

Skip forward to New Years Eve! My lovely bestie just moved into a new home with her hubby so they threw a little party! It's crazy because exactly 10 years ago we were ringing in 2002 and now we were together for 2012!

This new years was a lot more mellow than last year in Vegas, but I had such a fun time! I'm looking forward to 2012, here's a few of my resolutions :)

Continue to give and do community service, be healthy (i.e yoga, drink more water, skin care, better food options), accomplish something great, let people know where I am more often (one day i'll be kidnapped and nobody will know lol), find my career path and be accepting when things don't go my way.

Good luck with all your resolutions!! :) xoxo

I Actually Won!!

Hey!!!! Remember when I wrote this>>> post about being determined to win Lady Antebellum tickets off the radio????? Well......(drum roll please)

I WON!!!!!!!!!!!

Totally unexpected even though I did spend the whole week calling the station. Here's what happened!

Each day at 7am, 10, 2pm and 5 they gave out tickets to caller #10. So yes, I had my phone alarm set two minutes before each hour and spent 30 minutes each time trying to get through.

One time I was caller #1, fail. The other thousand times the line would ring but no answer, fail. Then on Friday, the last day of the contest I got through! BUT they told me they had already given away tickets so instead they gave me an invite to the Christmas party giveaway they were having the next day, kinda fail.

At the next hour my friend Marie and I tried calling again and no answer. Marie figured that they had already picked a winner so we went to grab some food. I decided to call again to see if I could get my mom on the Christmas party invite list....

It started ringing...and the guy answered "Hello, The Eagle"
Me (casually): "Did you guys already pick someone for the Lady Antebellum tickets?"
DJ: "No...but I'm gonna pick you!"
Me: "What? Really? No way. Oh my gosh!!! (total freak out)"
DJ: "Yea really!"

Holy cow the coolest moment of my life!!!!!!! It was 30 minutes past the hour so I figured they had already picked a winner so I was not expecting it at all!!!!! Oh man it was so freakin awesome!!!! And I had to blog about it just because I had written here that I was going to win! Talk about determination!

So any who we went to the xmas party the next day to pick up my tickets and try to win $77,000 in prizes. We had to put numbers 1-8 in the winning order.

The winner was supposed to win a car, snowmobile, gift cards, tickets and like a million other things...but nobody won. But they had free food and I got my tickets so I was happy :)

Thanks to the Eagle 101.5, can't wait till the concert!!!!!!!!

A Good Festive Weekend

This weekend was pretty fun and busy! I love the holiday season because there are so many fun events and every one comes together!

Friday night, Greg and I went to his neighborhood Christmas dinner which was super yummy. Then Saturday my work had their Christmas party at the country club (lucky!). They had giveaways (I didn't win) and they had casino games so we played blackjack all night. We were up $50,000...too bad it wasnt real money :(

My friend Kelly came into town, which is rare since she travels practically every weekend!! Luckily we were able to meet up for dinner and a little mall trip.

I HAD to grab a caramel apple from Rocky Mountain Chocolate Factory, mmmmm my fav!

So now I'm looking forward to this weekend, mainly because it's the weekend, but I'm sure something exciting and fun will happen again :) Oh and by the way, I decided I am DETERMINED!!!!!! to win Lady Antebellum tickets off the radio. I WILL be calling EVERY radio station SEVERAL times a day for each contest so I can be the WINNING CALLER!!! Wish me luck!
