What Kind of Bees Make Milk???

So I have discovered someone amazing on YouTube, her name is Jenna and she is hilarious. If she could be my best friend, she would be. Each week she posts new videos...yes, sometimes I question if she is under the influence of something, but I think she is so hilarious! I'm not sure if you'll find her humor appealing but if you do you better watch the other videos posted by her. This video is one of my favorites, enjoy!

My Best Friend's Birthday

HAPPY 21st BIRTHDAY EMELIE!!

This past weekend my best friend (of 10 years) turned 21!! whoot whoot!! We had a super fun weekend! On Saturday Emelie and her husband as well as Greg and I went to the bees game, it was a great game even though once the sun set it was pretty chilly. There were fireworks after the game, which I ordered especially for her birthday ;)

We had great seats!!

Emelie and Josh

Greg and I
After the game Emelie and I showed the guys this video we made as sophomores in high school...it was pretty lame so it's a pretty big deal that they still like us haha. After that we ended up playing mario kart until 1am, everytime we're all together we have such a blast! Love my bestie!

Her birthday fell on Easter this year so it was a double celebration! I made Emelie some bomb cupcakes with awesome candles, but as soon as I lit them they melted...but it was the thought that counted!

We went to Tepanyaki for dinner, it's a restaurant just like Bonsai or Benihana where the chef cooks in front of you. It was super delicious and pretty hilarious. The cook always has you catch a shrimp in your mouth and I obviously didn't (picture below) even though we tried like 4 times...and Emelie's husband, Josh, even fell back in his chair because he was so "dedicated" to catching his shirmp. It was a great night with good friends!!

Of course everyone is laughing at me

Protein Pancakes are the bomb!

I had never heard about protein pancakes until I stumbled across a recipe posted on a blog by Tenley from the Bachelor (Jake the Pilot's Season). I figured I would try it out and honestly as I was making it, I was convinced it would taste gross...but it was THE BEST PANCAKE I'VE EVER HAD! So here is the recipe, super easy, takes only five minutes.

*This recipe makes one pancake, which is enough because I could barely finish one since the protein filled me up so quickly.

Tone It Up Protein Pancakes

Low Carb, Low Fat, Naturally Gluten Free, and Delicious!
Protein Pancake Ingredients:
  • 1/4 cup egg whites
  • 1 scoop vanilla protein powder (organic rice protein or whey)
  • 1/2 banana (mashed)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1 tbs flaxseed
  • Add a handful of fresh or frozen blueberries after the above ingredients are mixed together.
  • *Gfree Friends, make sure your protein powder is Gluten Free!
1) Mix all of the ingredients together until you have a pancakey batter.
2) Pour the batter into a pan that has been sprayed with olive oil cooking spray
(I use Pam)- heat on medium.
3) Cook one side until you see the little bubbles… just like cooking any pancake! Flip over (careful!) and cook on the other size until the middle is done (peek inside with a fork).
4) Top with two sliced strawberries or slice the rest of your banana on top.

You can also add powdered stevia (whatever that is).  If you need more carbohydrates, you may add 1-tbs agave on top.

I am a Trojan

Can't believe I've slacked on blogging about this but....I've got some great news! If you recall my past posts about how I hated the GRE and how I was working my butt off? Well it all paid off! I applied to the University of Southern California for their Master's program for Communication Management at the Annenburg School of Communication and Journalism....and I got accepted!!! This school was my first pick, I planned to apply to some other schools but decided at the last minute to only apply to USC, so it's great that I got in. I will hopefully begin my first semester in Fall or next Spring :) Go Trojans!!
